Still Alive

Survived the 57.5 miles for the New Forest Sportive. The lycra clad brown-nosers were more of a challenge than the distance in the end. They gave my bike the 'all fashion- no substance' look throughout the race. But the point is- I made it anyway! See photo at the end for more proof that I have actually got on my bike for you doubters (Daniel), this is my best 'pro-cyclist' face/ getting up the hill grimace. I did the Sportive with my homies from the Racing Green cycling team (http://www.webjam.com/racinggreen) they're a network of amateur athletes, of all abilities (clearly, if it includes me), who take part in sporting events to encourage the events, other clubs and participants organisers to seek the benefits of improved sustainability. Special shout out to squad member and fellow civil servant Ned Lewis (pictured center) who described my blog as 'interesting and informative'. He can also tell you about the efficacy of Chamois Butt'r following the ride. I can't tell you what that's for because its unspeakable but send an email to the group if you'd like to find out how the lads trial run of it over 86 odd miles went- racinggreen.info@gmail.com

And a massive shout out to everyone who's sponsored me so far- thank you so much, I met the 80% target deadline which means I'm officially going on the ride on the 14th July! Mixed blessings... ;-) x
