"Estoy perdida"

Not much cycling going down last week but I did get to see some pleasant rural reminders of why the countryside and biodiversity are worth protecting at a conference in Caceres, Spain. I was metaphorically lost in the grandeur of nature, but unfortunately, also literally lost quite a few times. I'm indebted to the little old lady by the bus stop who counted out the pennies I needed for a bus fair back to civilisation and for patiently repeating everything in various forms of wording in the hope that if she chose another type of Spanish word it might ring clearer in my mind (must have been my pronunciation of 'no hablo espanol'). Best not spoil the images with more words other than to tell you the top image is a farm that do agritourism. Below is a national park where we did some bird-watching (vultures and black storks) and at the bottom a truly surprising rural avant garde art gallery where we were asked to guess what the most important piece was. The answer, apparently, was the door out to this fantastic lake, because it allowed us to be separated from all the construction of art and be totally immersed by the sights and sounds of another masterpiece.
